The white flag of surrender
The Senate budget that emerged this morning is akin to a white flag of surrender, a retreat from all that we have done to make our state so desirable for families and businesses. The proposed cuts will be felt in every community In North Carolina.
What’s most frustrating is that the deep cuts revealed today are completely avoidable. The Senate could have chosen to protect public schools, public health and public safety simply by maintaining our current revenue stream. But like the House, the Senate is letting the temporary tax package passed in 2009 expire.

"Responsible document"
That's how Phil Berger described the Senate Budget proposal on News(14) a few minutes ago.
And he's right. That document is going to be responsible for the financial despair of thousands of families of state employees, the loss of desperately needed health services for thousands of citizens, a severe degradation of our public school system adversely affecting hundreds of thousands of students, the economic suffocation of Ocracoke residents, the reduction of our environmental protections to the point calling it an "honor system" is a leap of faith, and so many other irresponsible acts this website would collapse from the weight if we tried to list them all here.
I got a better word for ya, Phil: "Reprehensible". Look it up.
