Andrew Brock
The arrogance of Andrew Brock
Submitted by James on Fri, 07/08/2011 - 10:30amA hyper-partisan a$$hole, and proud of it.
Then near the end of the night, just before one last person rose to speak, I raised my hand and asked Republican State Senator Andrew Brock, who was running our session, "have you heard us?" He started in on a reply about how the legislature will consider all of the comments made today, but I interrupted him and asked "no, have you heard us? After hearing all of us today, have you been moved to reconsider taking Asheville out of the 11th district?" After having sat through all of our testimony for over six and half hours, he simply said, "I live in Davie County and we're in four districts". I knew then that he didn't care; we hadn't moved him at all; he hadn't listened. He just didn't care.

Waker Andrew Brock thinks Alcoa is more important than UNC TV
Submitted by James on Sun, 03/13/2011 - 9:15amTo the few remaining North Carolinians who actually care about an informed electorate, it's time to bend over and kiss your collective asses good-bye, along with UNC-TV.
Senator Andrew Brock, the dickhead who founded Mary Kay Politics, is holding public television hostage because it questioned the rights of private companies, in this case Alcoa, to own North Carolina rivers.
The Yadkin River runs through the district of Republican Sen. Andrew Brock, who supports Alcoa's use of the river. He was confounded by the network's coverage last year. "We need them," he says of UNC-TV, "but we need assurances that they can't have the people who control their budget telling them to run a piece that was paid for by the opposition. We need assurances that won't happen again."

Wakers on Jones Street
Submitted by James on Thu, 07/22/2010 - 1:18pmFletcher Hartsell, Andrew Brock, Jeff Barnhart, Bryan Holloway
Chris Fitzsimon today rightly calls out four North Carolina right-wing extremists, all elected officials in the General Assembly. In any sane world, these legislators would be embarrassed by their bizarre rhetoric, but unfortunately, sane would be the last word I'd used to describe their approach to public service.

Climate Change Commission must be preserved
Submitted by scharrison on Tue, 03/23/2010 - 12:06pmFrom an editorial in the Winston-Salem Journal:
Retired Winston-Salem attorney John Garrou, commission co-chairman, told the Associated Press that the permanent status is needed because legislators will need guidance on many of the long-term recommendations his panel will propose. There are also new federal-emissions regulations on the horizon, and the legislature will need the commission's guidance there, too.
A cacophony of politically charged pseudo-science has been raised over the climate-change question. The opposition has raised what are, at their truest level, a number of false concerns. Climate change is a scientific issue for which there is no longer any reasonable doubt. The world's community of climate scientists is overwhelmingly convinced that the planet is warming and that man's behavior is contributing to this.

Andrew Brock's a twitter
Submitted by James on Mon, 03/22/2010 - 4:54pm
This just in via Twitter from Waker Grand Master Andrew Brock:
If there is Republican landslide, we can't let the wimpy moderates take control of the party. The Nation needs to go in the RIGHT direction.
If there is a Republican landslide? I thought that was a foregone conclusion! Wimpy moderates? He must be talkin' to you, Tommy Fetzer.

From Purgers to Wakers, The Party of The Lincoln
Submitted by gregflynn on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 6:00amKeep something long enough and you’ll find a use for it. When State Senator Andrew Brock, State Representative Bryan Holloway and businessman William Head debuted the 527 political committee in September known as WakeUpAmerica.com it really wasn’t anything new. It’s a marriage of anything-goes, tea party, town hall, histrionics combined with multi-level marketing (MLM). A For-Profit entity had been established by Head already in May ’09 called “Wake Up America Plan, LLC”. Even that isn’t new. It's all a re-manifestation of an ill-fated political MLM scheme begun in 2006 by William Head, Michael Smith and Nathan Tabor, known as PurgeCongress.com, previously reported here on BlueNC in 2006.

God, Guns, and Cannibal Dictators
Submitted by scharrison on Sun, 10/18/2009 - 1:27pmThe 2010 election season is shaping up to be a surreal journey into the nightmare world of the Twilight Zone, where nothing is what it seems to be and evil lurks right around the corner. The aura of Socialism! hasn't been so ever-present in our political debate since the days of McCarthyism, and the sheer number of citizens who are prone to this fear-mongering is much more frightening than that which they fear.
