Malone will make a difference
Candidate Charles Malone is trying to upseat Republican incumbent Neal Hunt for the NC Senate seat that represents North Raleigh, upper Wake County and most of the Town of Wake Forest. The race is competitive!
What a difference it will make if Malone is in and Hunt is out. Just compare where they stand on the following past votes in the NC General Assembly (2009-10).
1. Health Youth Act to allow sex education choice for parents--either abstinence or comprehensive. (Hunt, no; Malone, yes)
2. School Violence Prevention Act "anti-bullying bill" that includes protection for gay students. (Hunt, no: Malone, yes)
3. Allowing tenants to have 30 days to leave property and 10 days to get out of lease when landlord is foreclosed upon. (Hunt, no; Malone, yes).
4. Extending NC Climate Change Commission. (Hunt, no; Malone, yes).
5. Homeowner and Homebuyer Protection Act that would prohibit home foreclosure rescue scams and offer protection in land installment sales. (Hunt, no; Malone, yes)
6. Exempt businesses brought to NC by financial incentives from having to comply with environmental impact requirements. (Hunt, Yes; Malone, no).
7. Law passed to prohibit smoking in restaurants and public places. (Hunt, no; Malone, yes).
The list goes on. Spread the word for Charles Malone for NC Senate 15. Endorsed by the Independent, the Triangle's Weekly, EqualityNC, AFL-CIO, and NCAE.

I know Charles
He is one of the most outstanding candidates I have had the good fortune to meet. He would bring a breath of fresh air to the NC Senate. Please provide any help to his campaign that you can.

Congratulations on News & Observer's endorsement!
From the News and Observer Editorial Endorsement today:
"One question looming over the races for the state Senate is disquieting for Democrats and exciting for Republicans. It is: What if the GOP takes control of the legislature's upper chamber?
Also with a big stake in the outcome is Marc Basnight, the upper chamber's president pro tem, who has ruled from that position since 1993. In that time, the Democrat from Manteo has called the shots, and if Democrats lose their majority, Basnight's days as one of the most powerful politicians in North Carolina are over.
Wake County's incumbent senators, two Republicans and two Democrats, all seek re-election to two-year terms. All of them are long-time residents and respected by their respective parties and their colleagues. But The News & Observer's editorial endorsements are based on fresh looks at records and the opposition. They are as follows.
(District 14: Dan Blue)
District 15
CHARLES MALONE
Democrat Malone is an equal opportunity officer with the N.C. Department of the Environment and Natural Resources, a Vietnam veteran, a former manager of a small business and a former newspaper editor in Harnett County. He has a number of civic activities on his resume and a thoughtful view of the challenges in public service. He would bring fresh and worthwhile ideas to the Senate (in a district representing middle and northwestern Wake).
Malone is not, for example, singing the "smaller government, lower taxes" song as if it were a solemn hymn. His role models in politics are the late Terry Sanford, former governor and U.S. senator, and former Gov. Jim Hunt, two men who approached political office as a means of making life better for those who elected them. Malone has a good grasp of the big picture and some specific issues to advance as well, including further curbs on predatory lenders and safeguards for tenants' rights. 9www.charlesmalonencsenate.com)
