Defeating McCrory
I think the Democratic party needs to do a better job this election of connecting Art Pope to the Republican party and how his money is winning elections. This was completely ignored in the mid-terms and allowed the Republican right wing to gain charge in North Carolina.
It needs to start now the connection between Pat McCrory and Pope and the Koch brothers. Very few people know who Pope is, to start now would allow people to get familiar with how corrupt this whole republican party is and how they are not for the majority but for the privileged few. To highlight how creating jobs are never mentioned just the ideology of this extreme group.
Start today bringing out this connection and the only time you hear McCrory you think of Pope and when you hear Art Pope you think of how he is buying elections, and how negative their message is.

Glad to have you beating this drum
It's going to take relentless effort to make the connection clear, and to educate voters that McCrory is a bought-and-paid for politician by any standard. From Art Pope to Duke Energy and everywhere in between, McCrory is a servant to special interests.
We've been on this for a while now. Glad to have you helping to raise the alarm.
One specific thing you can to is keep writing about this here at BlueNC ... and share your posts with friends via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Educate voters
It seems to me this is where the left is always lacking. It reminds me of a 60 minutes episode a while back about Grover Norquist. He was very adamant about correcting the interviewer saying he was "educating voters". It seems the right has many groups dedicated to "educating" the uneducated. The left seems, in my opinion, to ignore low information white voters and preach to the choir. This seems like a road map for losing. Just a thought. Even this site, which I thoroughly enjoy, seems to be a hang out for those of us who are already of a liberal mindset. How do we carry the message to the Fox news crowd who would think of this site as "roadkill"?
I wouldn't worry about the Fox news crowd
It's the muddled middle ... the growing core of unaffiliateds and independents ... who are going to determine the outcome of this election.
In the past month, we've been making a concerted push to broaden our readership, and it's working. We're up roughly 1000 readers each week (from 3000 to 4000+) and are working hard to pull in even more.
Beyond our own sandbox, there are lots of other progressive working to broaden their outreach.
So, at the risk of putting you on the spot, what steps are you taking to educate the uneducated? If you're like most people, the answer is probably "not much."
My request? Forward a BlueNC link to one new person at least once a week. I'll do everything I can to make sure there's interesting content here, but we need all the help we can get in spreading the word.

It's ok to put me on the spot
since I brought it up. You are correct that it is not much and I should probably do more. I do try to tell anyone who will listen (and even those who would rather not) my views on the issues that are before us. I tell my wife and she tells her friends at work when it is something she feels worthy of passing on. I have also told others about this site and NC Policy Watch. I will make an effort to pass it on to more people.
Please do not think I meant that you were not doing enough as I believe you and others on here do more than your fair share to spread the word. I was really trying to say that I do not believe the Democratic Party has any where near the propaganda machine that the right has. While they mainly spit out lies and misinformation, it is highly effective with low information voters. Maybe you are correct and those people are lost and should not be the focus.
Also congrats on the increased readership, you and the new front pagers have been doing a great job in the New Year.
Thanks for the kind words
Your points are well taken.
I have seen signs of life from the NCDP lately, but it remains to be seen if they can sustain their efforts ... and if they can hit hard enough to make a dent. There are conservaDems in North Carolina who are already supporting Mitt McCrory, and the party has a history of not wanting to upset such traitors for reasons that are far beyond my comprehension.
It's time to take the gloves off ... and here's hoping the Powers That Be have what it takes for the kind of street-fighting we need.
One tactic I'd like to see is a full-court press to get businesses to say they are AGAINST AMENDMENT ONE. In particular, I want to see Duke Energy on the record regarding this question.
Duke Energy = Mitt McCrory = Discrimination against gays
Jim Rogers needs to own this stinkin' pile of crap.

House and Senate members drop your ALEC membership.
Over forty members of the North Carolina House of Representatives and Senate are members of American Legislative Exchange Council including Speaker of the House Tillis. This is a corporate funded group lead by the Koch brothers and Art Pope of North Carolina who are creating laws behind closed doors. They have been behind the Stand your ground law, abortion laws, marriage amendent. It is time for these politicians to work for all of North Carolina not their corporate bosses who want their agendas and laws passed.
