Congressional Endorsements, Burr versus Marshall

According to my tally, it's Elaine Marsall ahead on endorsements. Does she have any others besides N&O, IndyWeek, Wilmington Star-News, Charlotte Observer? Does Burr have any besides W-S Journal and the Asheville C-T?

I want to run an article (probably on Tuesday) with all the endorsements I know about for Congressional candidates in Triangle, so far.

Marshall's endorsement from Wilmington NC paper

The office of secretary of state is typically a low-profile position, but Marshall brought well-deserved attention to it by focusing on making the office’s records more accessible to the public online and by taking on legislative ethics reform as a mission.

..."Most of all, she has never lost touch with her roots as a farmer’s daughter who grew up knowing what hard labor is like. She is equally comfortable talking with farmers, teachers and CEOs. She knows that our state has pockets of wealth and poverty, that it has bustling cities, troubled inner cities, comfortable suburbs and rural areas that lack the infrastructure and skilled workforce to be able to attract jobs."

She knows that despite the state’s prosperity, many families lack health insurance, are priced out of an education and cannot find work that pays a living wage. The recession has only magnified those problems, and the state needs a senator who understands that it’s wrong for Wall Street to profit at the expense of Main Street."

"In this race, Elaine Marshall is that candidate."

It's been a whirlwind week for Elaine Marshall's campaign for Senate with endorsements and momentum coming from every direction. In the last 72 hours, Elaine was endorsed by two of the state's biggest newspapers, the Charlotte Teamsters, and Pam Spaulding from Pam's House Blend.

This week got even better when a slew of Orange County elected officials announced their support for Elaine Marshall. I've posted a full list below, but this is another sign of Elaine's incredible momentum.

EMILY's List Announces Endorsement of Elaine Marshall for Senator from North Carolina

http://www.thepilot.com/news/2010/oct/24/us-senate-elaine-marshall/

She worked her way up the hard way. She deserves to be in the United States Senate, and North Carolina deserves to have a senator of her high caliber.

The Pilot endorses Democrat Elaine Marshall because of her intelligence, background and understanding of issues facing the average North Carolinian.

I assume you are looking for media endorsements rather than say personal endorsement from Lewis & Cunningham and other officials?

That's why today, Democracy for America announced our endorsement of Elaine Marshall for U.S. Senate.

This morning, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall picked up a major endorsement from North Carolina's largest African-America political organization. The Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg announced their support for Elaine's bid for U.S. Senate. The caucus has been instrumental in the election of Democrats in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County including President Obama.

NC Marshall, Elaine D C The Elaine Marshall Committee

I am supporting Elaine Marshall in this primary without any reservation. There are several reasons for my endorsement.

Some of these are national media and orgs, maybe you're looking more in state. But I think at least the Pams House Blend one qualifies as NC based (especially since she also writes some for a Durham paper)

I assume the NC Farm Team (Sam Spencer's encouraging young candidate & progressive principles) endorsed her. Has BlueNC officially? What about any of those other places list on BlueNC's blog-roll listed as "Places to Think" just to the right. What about that Dick Durban contest she won. Did that win her an official endorsement there?

Sorry this is all a bit of a jumbled mess, just random tidbits I could pull from some googling, but maybe it will help some.

Just writing about media endorsements this week

I got an email from Sam Swartz, with the Marshall campaign, confirming Sen. Burr has only two endorsements so far, the Journal (his hometown paper) and the Asheville Citizen Times.

Sec. Marsall has the major media endorsements from Raleigh, Charlotte, Moore Co. Wilmington, and the Independent Weekly of Durham. My tally as of today.
thanks for all th information, though. It helps to have it on hand.
