Calling on women

I’m sorry to be a nag, but time is running short. We need you to join in the fight for the heart and soul of our state. We need you to step up and join the campaign of 100 Great Women Running for North Carolina. We need you to declare yourself to be a candidate who will work for women and families.
It’s not that men are irrelevant in the 2012 election cycle, but just to state the obvious, men's record of progress leaves a lot to be desired. And the men who want to run the show now – Pat McCrory, Thom Tillis, Phil Berger, Art Pope – are committed to putting their own quest for power ahead of your rights and freedoms. They want to create a world where women are second-class citizens who cannot even control their own bodies. And with every assault they mount against public education, they are undermining the strength and potential of all of our families.
What does it take to be one of the 100 Great Women Running for North Carolina? It takes being pro-choice and pro-family. And it takes getting yourself down to the board of elections and to file for office.
We already have some great women leading the charge in North Carolina. Governor Perdue. Secretary of State Marshall. State Treasurer Cowell. State Auditor Beth Wood. And there other great women lined up to run for Congress, for seats in the General Assembly, and for local and municipal offices.
If you are a woman who wants to make a difference in North Carolina, you should know that you will be able to count on BlueNC. You may also want to contact Lillian’s List or the NC Democratic Party. You will not be alone.
I believe that 100 Great Women Running for North Carolina can change our state for the better. Working together in a united front for women and families, we can nationalize this race, attracting dollars, support and attention from all across the country and all around the world.
As a man, it saddens me to witness the destruction that other men have wrought. The oppression, the wars, the hate, the hypocrisy. And it frightens me to imagine a world in which my daughter or granddaughter might be forced to give birth to the child they couldn’t care for. Men have proven themselves to be part of the problem. It’s up to women to be part of the solution.
James
P.S. To the BlueNC community, please spread this message far and wide. If you know women who could make a difference but are reluctant to get into the political arena, send this to them and encourage them to look at their options. Whether it's for the NC House or their county commission or Congress or anything in between, our state desperately needs women to step up. I hesitate to say that it's now or never, but say it I must. It is now or never. The heart and soul of our state hangs in the balance.
