Burr approval slips in latest Elon poll
Which is what happens when you add cell phone people to the mix:
With the 2010 congressional midterm elections less than a week away, only one third of respondents in the latest Elon University poll believed Republican U.S. Sen. Richard Burr deserves re-election as he fends off Democratic challenger Elaine Marshall.
Forty-five percent of residents think it is time for a new person to have a chance to fill the seat Burr holds, the poll found. However, respondents were evenly split when asked which party they plan to support in the Senate race, with both the Democrats and the Republicans each pulling 33 percent support from respondents. More than a quarter of poll respondents – 27 percent – have yet to decide which party to support.

"Senate race...Democrats and the Republicans each pulling 33"%
Are they calling this tie? Or am I reading this wrong?
a tie?
Not an 8 point lead?
I have the same question.
and of course, the NY times still has NC as a RED state. And no one believes any Democrat will be close to beating a Republican incumbent in the US Senate.
This could happen, a leetle support from the National Party, a little bit more money for campaigning, maybe some of the money she spent on the run off. So close.
I guess it could be a win, or a close loss like Larry Kissells first race against hayes.

What is really sad about this, besides the fact that .....
I have only seen one ad about Elaine Marshall on TV. And that has run about four or five times. But the other fact is none of the Burr supporters can point to any accomplishments by him during his stay in Congress. Meantime, on a daily basis, a Burr ad has been extolling his non-imaginative position of controlling spending in Congress. Of course if you have an empty head, you won't think of anything to spend on, so just vote "no". I did watch the debates, (two) and found our candidate, who I probably agree with almost 100%, acting almost deferential to Burr, our present Senator who has been on an all-expense paid vacation to Washington for six years! There needs to be more attack-dog mentality here!
I haven't seen either of Marshall's ads on tv
maybe I don't watch enough, but I've certainly seen them online.
Hopefully between that, and the 4 debates with Burr, she has gotten her message out through that particular medium, even if she doesn't have the lobbyist money to do it as well as Burr.
I saw one a few weeks ago
But I really don't watch much tv, and when I do, it's usually stuff like C-SPAN or PBS. If Elaine's ads are running on the big four (regular) networks, the odds of me catching them are pretty slim.
I will be interested in
the next PPP poll. If I read it right, about a week ago they said they'd be doing some polls including NC, that would be released by the first.
They gave a range of dates they might release it on, with the first being the latest.
I worry that maybe the reason they are holding off on releasing it is because the numbers are bad and they don't want to depress anyone's GOTV effort. Although I'm probably just being too much of a conspiracy theorist here.
One interesting point will be to look at when the poll was conducted. The Marshall team sent out the e-mail, about the final TV ad they would be airing, on the afternoon of Thursday Oct 28. So I assume it wasn't on air until then or later. So depending on when the PPP was conducted it may, or may not, include the full benefit of that TV ad.
You're probably right
I think it was wise, considering the budget of the campaign, to use this final ad buy just a few days before Tuesday. But that pretty much leaves the actual election as the only gauge of its effectiveness.
GO VOTE
Or the Neanderthals win. Do you really want your children to grow up in a country run by corporate puppets, intolerant bigots, insurance companies, big pharma, hateful divisive and dangerous religious zealots? Get out of your chair and go vote, before it’s too late!
