From the Young Democrats of North Carolina

From YDNC Secretary Zoe Riddle-Fawcett:

I woke up yesterday morning with hope. For months, I refused to listen to those who said we were fighting an impossible battle. In a society that was built on and continues to thrive off of inequality, one must always have hope. When I heard Amendment One had passed, the emotions I felt were almost unbearable. The hope I had managed to hold onto had been crushed. I looked down at the "I'm Voting AGAINST Amendment One" pin still attached to my purse and tears immediately began to pour from my eyes as I thought of all the citizens in North Carolina whose lives will be unjustly disrupted by this amendment.

Democrats for Equality

Democrats for Equality is an exciting new project of the Young Democrats of North Carolina. We're launching this campaign because the Executive Committee of the Young Democrats of North Carolina voted unanimously to make defeating the pro-discrimination Constitutional Amendment our foremost priority during the primary season.

Young Democrats support Governor Perdue

On Wednesday, the Executive Committee of the Young Democrats of North Carolina voted unanimously to voice our "unqualified support" for Governor Bev Perdue.

As the Chair of our Platform & Resolutions Committee, I believe it is imperative for us to show our support for Governor Perdue and stand with her. Her leadership has made a difference in the lives of many Young Democrats - including mine.

Do something about it!

We're all mad about the NCGA's amazing cloak-and-dagger actions last night. So let's do something about it! From the Young Democrats of North Carolina:

When you consider midnight sessions, redistricting, attempts to change our voting laws, and many other bills proposed and passed over the past year, the real unconstitutionality becomes clear: Democrats are losing equal protection of the laws in North Carolina ... Please take action today:
